About mena
MENOPAUSE FRIENDLY FOOD RANGE
My inspiration for creating a functional food to support women was joining the 16 million women in the UK who suffer peri-menopause and menopausal symptoms every year.
I am a passionate advocate of using food to keep you well and I use plants, herbs and spices in everyday dishes to make them accessible as well as effective. The Mena range consists of easily accessible foods that can be incorporated into everyday life, including porridge pots, breakfast cereals, bread and snacks, enriched with natural plant oestrogens and beneficial botanicals.
For the past four years, I have worked with plants, medicinal and culinary herbs, to produce free- range, pasture-reared sheep, pigs, hens and turkeys on my small-holding. A former pharmaceutical rep, one day in conversation it dawned on me that I had a natural solution to a "women's problem" too.
The name Mena comes from the Roman Goddess of Femininity and means Woman, Mother, Goddess and love in other cultures, which seemed entirely appropriate for food designed to nourish women during a period of their lives that has largely been ignored, or made light of, but which significantly affects their ability to cope at work and home. Using Mena food daily as part of a healthy diet will support more women to provide for their families and continue to contribute to their communities, and, in doing so, will change and break down societal barriers and norms.
